dinner at House of Hong. |
| | celebrating our second anniversary at home. i cooked beef steaks with gravy and vegetables (mushrooms, red peppers, and brocolli). even bought champagne. and when he got home from work, voila! din-ah is serve :D for desert we had ice cream, shared with my cousin and nieces. |
| | after waiting for almost a year, i gave in and went to have my eyes check. the result: astigmatism.
i remember how i wanted so badly to wear a glasses when i was younger. when the doctor told me that i really needed it, i felt a little sadness. but it's ok. i know my eyes are bad. whenever i order my drinks in Starbucks i can't read a single letter or number from their menu board. i spent months guessing words and faces when they are a few feet away from me.
when i got home with my new glasses, it feels like i got a new set of eyes. i can see details of things and faces. even from the other street! |

early afternoon, kinukulit akong lumabas nila mama and papa but for some reason i really don't want to. just wanna stay home and totally do nothing. and honestly, i was feeling a little bit miserable (my gawd, pity party na naman!). missing jay and all my friends. miss hearing people back home greeting me happy birthday. but after a long persuasion by my parents, i gave in. practically dragged myself out of my bed (it was already 3PM, mind you) and went to our washroom. as i was going back to my bedroom, i passed my parent's bedroom and saw my mom wearing --for crying out loud-- a beach-y outfit.
me: bat ka nakaganyan? eh ang lamig sa labas.
mama: wala lang. gusto ko lang.
(shook my head)
we went to Sherwood Park. i was not even in the mood to drive. it was my birthday and i was feeling sour. hahaha! my papa bought a shoes for himself and a jacket for him and jay. my mama bought some "treasures". they kept asking me what i like. said they'll buy it for me but not even of the sight of Chapters entice me so i went back to Fort empty-handed. while we were in a gas station, my mom got a call from my friend, tita clarizze, that we're invited to their house. for dinner. no big event or something. we dropped papa to patrick and zen's apartment. drinking night. i even want to go there. maybe booze will make me happy for my birthday! then we got to tita clarizze home. i was kind of surprised that there's a lot of people. i even saw my cousin's, ate vernie, car. my mama told me to go ahead and she'll put their shopping bag at the back of the car. and freak! when i open the door, they all sang happy birthday! ate clarrize was holding a video cam. nica took out my sunglasses and put my tiara on my head. for sure i was smiling like a crazy dog! for some reason i felt nervous, coy, and of course happy at the same time. all eyes were on me. i'm telling you, it felt like i'm gonna melt. hahaha! everyone was wearing beach-y outfit (kaya pala!). even the kitchen was decorated. we ate first, then some games, opening of gifts, and the fashion show. the whole night turned out funny, thanks to ate aireen, who won the fashion show.
i know when i gave my speech that night it was totally lame. i guess i was still feeling too overwhelmed. so let me say my thank you again. thanks to tita clarizze (the perfect hostess!) and nica (the perfect assistant!) for organizing the whole party, for even thinking of giving me a bridal shower, for all your ideas and hard work. i really, really appreciate everything. thanks to all the people that came and for the gifts/cards you gave me. and to my dearest mama, for being a part of this, for the souvenirs you gave away (i had no idea you even bought those!) and for EVERYTHING. all of you did a very good job keeping this from me!

when i read this morning that Feist is nominated for four Grammy Awards i was really ecstatic. ok. i'm not like some people who became fanatic of their favorite actors or bands and covered the four walls of their bedroom with posters. (Leslie) Feist. i simply love her music. can't believe that it's only now that they give her this recognition. Apple did such a good job choosing her for the new ipod ad.
after hearing her song Mushaboom from the Lacoste Essential commercial, i fell in love with her. it's been weeks before i finally listened to a different song. When I Was A Young Girl even inspired me to make one of my graphic arts for my portfolio. that's how much that song moved me. i guess it sings how i could have turn out to be. then there's Lonely, Lonely. one of my fav songs to listen to during rainy days. just laying on my bed and think.
anyway, here's a video of the making of 1234. just wanna share.
